How to Enable lazy loading of images on Blogger ?

Do you have a blog or website on Blogger and you want to optimize it with what is now part of certain web standards? Do you want to make your pages and articles load faster? So welcome to this article which explains how to activate lazy oading of images on Blogger, also called Blogspot.

What is lazy loading of images?

I answered this question very recently in an article dedicated to Lazy loading of images. Please note that this is a feature that may or may not be activated on blogs and websites. Its function is to delay the display and therefore the loading of images/photos on a web page, as the Internet user approaches the area where these images should be displayed. For example, when there is no lazy loading of images on a web page or an article, then it is when you load the page that all the images are called to load.

If there are a lot of very heavy and big images and photos on a page, it therefore becomes interesting to take advantage of lazy loading, namely the delayed loading of these media files which are sometimes heavy in web weight (bytes, kilobytes, mega bytes, etc.).

How to activate lazy loading of images on Blogger?

Nothing could be easier ! This will take you about 3 clicks at most.

First, go to the settings on the left of your Blogger dashboard. Here :

Blogger settings

Next, scroll down to the “Posts” area on the Blogger settings page which yes, is very large.

You should look for the following in screenshot:

enable of disable images lazy loading on blogger settings

It is therefore via this item namely: “Lazy loading image” that you will need to enable if this functionality interests you. It is not enabled by default. If the option is not checked on the right, then you need to check it like in the screenshot above. Please note the explanation of the text made under the title of the feature:

Load images individually as the reader scrolls the page

This sentence is enough to explain how image lazy loading works. Which can be interesting on web pages to make them lighter to load upon connection. This protects the Internet user’s connection. Especially if it doesn’t cover the entirety of a long page.

Note that you will not need to validate your activation of this function. This will be recorded a few seconds after clicking the button.

At the same time, you can decide to combine your image loading optimization by opting for your Blogger articles to distribute images with the WebP format.
