Superio: A WordPress Job Board Theme : Review

Superio is a premium WordPress theme designed for job boards. Priced at US $59 (approximately €74 including taxes in France), it allows you to publish job listings and manage recruitment directly on your site. It’s a popular option. But how well does it perform behind the scenes? Is it worth the investment?

A Theme Built Specifically for Recruitment

Many so-called “multipurpose” themes include gimmicky job modules, but Superio is built from the ground up as a recruitment theme. It uses a dedicated Custom Post Type (job) and clearly defined taxonomies (job-location, job-type, job-category). It also has distinct user roles for employers and candidates.

It integrates with the WP Job Board Pro plugin, enabling:

  • Employers to create listings
  • Candidates to apply via forms or dashboards
  • Company profile management
  • Full front-end dashboards for both user types

What’s Included in the Superio ZIP

When you download the Superio theme, you’ll find several essential plugins:

  • apus-framework
Core plugin providing all theme options (layout, colors, fonts), custom widgets, headers, footers, essential for functionality.
  • revslider (Slider Revolution)
Premium slider plugin (worth about €85 by itself) for creating animated, responsive full-screen sliders, optional but commonly used in demos.
  • wp-job-board-pro
The main job board plugin by Apus. It creates the job CPT, manages taxonomies and statuses, and enables employer & candidate features like job submissions, listing pages, and filtered search.
  • wp-job-board-pro-wc-paid-listings
Extension that adds monetization via WooCommerce, charging for listings, creating packs, and enabling featured/sponsored postings with payment support (Stripe, PayPal).
  • wp-private-message
Private messaging module allowing confidential communication between employers and candidates via dashboard, not public on the site.

Main Features of Superio

Based on one year of usage across three live sites, here’s what stands out:

  • Dynamic AJAX filters
Jobs can be filtered by category, location, contract type, fast and customizable in the back-end.
  • Elementor integration & ready-to-import demos
Multiple demo setups (e.g. healthcare, tech, hospitality) streamline setup, though familiarity with Elementor is essential.
  • WPML compatibility
Fully compatible multilingual setup via wpml-config.xml.
  • Separate employer & candidate dashboards
Employers post and manage job ads and receive applications. Candidates create profiles, apply, and track submissions, making it a full-fledged HR interface.
  • WooCommerce-ready paid listings
You can monetize the job board through WooCommerce-managed listings, packs, and featured posts.

Strengths of Superio

  • Professional, well-structured design upon demo import
  • Back-end customization without coding
  • Integrated job search engine out of the box

Overall, it’s a compelling choice for anyone needing to create a professional job board quickly on WordPress.

What You Can Achieve With Superio

Employer perspective:

  • Create, edit, and manage job listings via dashboard.
  • View active listings and received applications (with pending/accepted/rejected statuses).
  • Add logos and manage company profiles.

Candidate perspective:

  • Create optional profile and upload CV.
  • Apply to listings and track application history.

This isn’t just a static job listing: it’s a dynamic recruitment interface.

Important Considerations

  • Premium theme: US $59 + ~€15 in taxes.
  • Technical learning curve if you’re unfamiliar with CPTs or job board flows.
  • Dependent on WP Job Board Pro, which hasn’t been frequently updated over 14 months across three sites.
  • Requires careful testing to avoid publishing incomplete or unmoderated listings.
  • Job posting features include fields that might not be compliant with French recruitment laws (e.g. age, marital status, fields that are legally restricted in France).

My Professional Verdict

While Superio offers a powerful job board solution, I ultimately cannot recommend it at this price point. The back-end interface is clunky, workflows are unclear, and configuration tweaks often lead to unpredictable visual changes. It’s more of an international template with features that don’t always align with French hiring regulations.

Is Superio Right for Your Project?

Yes, if you need a near-functional job board on WordPress to publish and manage applications.
No, if you aim to post large volumes of job offers, multi-post externally (via ATS), or strictly follow French HR rules.

A lighter and cleaner alternative like Blocksy + Simple Job Board might be more efficient and compliant for small-scale or local recruitment needs.
